ClearBound Pulse: Built by Operators, for Operators
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — September 2026 — ClearBound Leadership LLC is introducing ClearBound Pulse, an operations platform being built specifically around the realities of running restaurants and multi-location hospitality businesses.
Pulse really came from trying to solve problems we were dealing with every day. We had plenty of systems and plenty of information, but we were still spending too much time pulling everything together just to understand what was happening in the business. Over time we started building our own way of doing it, and that eventually became ClearBound Pulse.
Anyone who has spent time running restaurants knows how quickly information gets spread out. Sales might be in the POS, labor is in the scheduling system, invoices are somewhere else, orders are coming through vendors, managers are communicating through email and text, and there are still spreadsheets being used to fill in the gaps. Each system might do its individual job well, but somebody still has to connect all of it.
That somebody is usually the operator.
For us, that became the bigger problem to solve. We wanted to create a place where the information from the operation could come together in a way that was actually useful during the day, not just something you reviewed after the week was already over.
ClearBound Pulse has been developed while actively operating multiple hospitality businesses. That has given us a very different environment to build in because we are able to use it, find the things that do not work, make changes and put it right back into the operation.
A lot of the development has come from relatively normal days in restaurants.
Maybe sales are coming in differently than expected and labor needs to change. An invoice gets entered against the wrong business. Product needs to move from one location to another. A manager closes the building and the deposit does not quite reconcile. An order needs to be adjusted because business changed. Someone walking in the following morning needs to understand what happened yesterday and what they need to pay attention to today.
Individually, none of those things are particularly unusual. Together, they are what operating a restaurant looks like.
Pulse is being built around that reality.
The platform currently brings together areas of the business including purchasing, ordering, invoices, inventory and transfers, sales and labor information, cash and deposit controls, daily closing processes and operational reporting. As the platform has grown, so has the ability to look across those areas instead of managing each one as an isolated task.
For us, that connection is probably more important than any individual feature.
If sales are changing, what does that mean for labor? If purchasing is running high, where is it happening? If product was transferred between locations, did the cost follow it correctly? If yesterday's close was off, does someone know about it today?
Those are the conversations operators are already having. We are trying to make the information behind those conversations easier to see and easier to act on.
We already have a tremendous amount of technology in restaurants. What I kept finding was that we still had to do a lot of work between those systems ourselves. Pulse grew from trying to make that part easier. I wanted something that made sense when you were actually in the middle of running the business. — Christopher Catino, founder of ClearBound Leadership
That has also shaped how we think about the user experience.
The people using Pulse should not need to understand how the software was built in order to use it. If a manager has to stop and figure out what the system is asking them to do, we probably need to rethink the workflow. We have the opportunity to see those moments firsthand because the people helping us develop the platform are also dealing with the operation around it.
That feedback loop has become a big part of what ClearBound Pulse is.
We can build something based on a real problem, use it in an operating business, see where our assumptions were wrong and keep working on it. Sometimes that means adding something. Other times it means removing steps or making something much simpler than we originally thought it needed to be.
The result is a platform that continues to develop alongside the people using it.
As ClearBound Pulse moves beyond its original operating environment, we want to keep that same approach. We are interested in working with operators who understand their businesses, know where the friction is and want better ways to connect the information they already have.
There are plenty of companies building technology for restaurants. Our perspective comes from being the people running them too.
That is what we mean when we say ClearBound Pulse is built by operators, for operators. ClearBound Pulse gives operators a constant pulse on how the business is doing.
